The Dog Mentor

Rowhill school is pleased to have four very special (and very furry) members of the therapeutic team, our Dog Mentors Hefay, Fluffy, Peaches, and Bertie.

We recognise that a child’s relationship to an animal can play an important role in their life, and evidence suggests that children with companion animals have higher self-esteem, greater empathy, and more positive engagement with their peers. These improvements can in turn help them educationally, developmentally, emotionally and socially. Our Dog Mentors work with pupils at Rowhill in a range of ways, alongside the support of our trained staff handlers.
